The Associate of Applied Science in Audio Production and Live Sound training program offers a degree designed to train producer engineers who are entrepreneurs, musically and technically creative, and proficient in modern recording technology and techniques. In our school’s advanced classes, students hone their creative and technical skills while working with advanced recording, editing technology, mixing and mastering techniques, song arrangement, and the operation and planning of events and corporate productions.  In addition, the Audio Production & Live Sound training program presents the fundamentals of acoustics, signal flow, color and light, basic electronics, audio, lighting and video reproduction devices.  IPR’s condensed Audio Production & Live Sound degree program allows students to graduate faster, with more skills, and in less time.  Your path to an exciting career in Audio starts at IPR – learn to record tracks hands-on with music professionals, work as part of a team on real-world shows and events, and gain skills recording and mixing in a studio environment. You will graduate career-ready with the qualifications to obtain an entry level position in studio audio engineering and live sound event production!

Throughout the audio production and live sound degree program, college students are involved in hands-on exercises, real-world studio projects, and live shows and events that enable them to apply their knowledge and refine their audio production and live sound skills. After mastering the core concepts, audio production and engineering degree program students learn artistic and technical skills: microphone technique, mixing, critical listening, session management, studio etiquette, people skills, and basic song composition and programming. Audio production and live sound degree program students are introduced to many facets of the industry — from traditional studio work to live sound, post production, sound design, composition, A&R, marketing and distribution.

Careers in Audio Production and Live Sound

  • Audio and Video Equipment Technicians– Coursework helps you set up, or set up and operate audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, sports events, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences. May also set up and operate associated spotlights and other custom lighting systems.
  • Sound Engineering Technicians– Broadcast and sound engineering technicians set up, operate, and maintain the electrical equipment for radio and television broadcasts, live shows, concerts, sound recordings, movies and in office and school buildings.
  • Audio and Video Equipment Technicians– Coursework helps you set up, or set up and operate audio and video equipment including microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, audio technology, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards, and related electronic equipment for concerts, sports events, meetings and conventions, presentations, and news conferences.
