Q: Will changes to the DEAL Loan affect me….?

The Department of Education has announced that all Private Loan Lenders (i.e. SELF, DEAL, SallieMae) will be required going forward to provide disclosure statements to all borrowers as a way to inform and education students about their federal and private loan options.

A: Yes.  Here’s what you need to know:

  • Current students who have a pending DEAL application on file that is not “Waiting to be Certified” by IPR have until Friday, February 12, 2010 to complete their loans.
  • Students who complete a DEAL Loan after February 14, 2010  will be subject to new deadlines and disclosures.  THIS CHANGE WILL DELAY THE TIME IT TAKES FOR AN APPROVED LOAN TO BE RECEIVED.  Please plan accordingly.  If you have a DEAL application started, we strongly encourage you to complete it before the new changes take effect.

Each week we will be including new scholarship options as they become available.  For the latest information, please visit the Financial Aid Board in the hallway outside of Financial Aid.  Opportunities will be posted immediately for students as they come in.  This week’s scholarship’s:
