Avey Sadowski wins the Battle of the Beats

In a gritty contest featuring uber-competitive later rounds, Avey Sadowski squeaked by Jon Hopstetter in the final matchup to claim victory. Both producers had everything working, but Avey’s dedication to live instrumentation seemed to be the deciding factor for the judges. Congratulations!

All entries in this quarter’s Battle of the Beats brought solid work that made for an exciting competition. Thanks to all the students who put work into bringing their best to the battle, it showed! Hope to see you all in the next one.

The judging this time around was consistent and full of helpful feedback. Thank you to Paul Znascko, Marquay Belcher, One Mike, Walter Chancellor and Andrew Lucas for volunteering as judges!

Additional thanks to the Jay Fleming and the lab office’s Alex Anderson for helping set up the Greenroom for the event.

Extra thanks to James Patrick in the Pro Audio Outlet for donating his collection of samples for the winner.

Special thanks to student DJ Jackson Thompson and student coordinator/host Chris Burris. Great job guys!
