IPR's Woody Stulberg Offers SXSW Update

Because South By Southwest (SXSW) proves there’s still an important reason to study audio production, music business, and sound design, along with other media arts cross disciplines, here’s an update from an IPR, The Institute of Production and Recording, inside source down in Austin.

IPR Admissions Rep. Woody Stulberg at SXSW

IPR Admissions Rep. and SXSW connection Woody Stulberg

Before Woody Stulberg, IPR Admissions Rep. and Minneapolis percussion guru, left for SXSW I asked him to send me some email updates. I like to get the skinny from the IPR classes that go to the conference as well, but they’re usually too busy to connect with me.

Here’s an update from Woody, only a few hours old….

Hey Christian!

Hope all is well in MN.  I hear the weather there is absolutely gorgeous.

I don’t know how serious you were about me sending you updates of what I’m doing and what’s going on down here, but I like thinking that I have some responsibility for IPR so…

Things are really picking up today for the music portion so I’m excited for that.  I’m Sitting in the Austin Convention Center now after picking up my badge and creating my plan for the day.

Yesterday I was at Hole in the Wall Bar all day for some MPLS music including Gabe Douglas from 4otf[Four on the Floor], Luke Redfield (who is actually a Portland, OR guy now), Me and My Arrow, Rogue Valley, Sarah Krueger (Duluth, MN) and more.  It was a great bar with great music but I’m pretty excited to branch out and find some music that I can’t get in my backyard.  I met up with the Alumni Affairs guy for my alma-mater and he posted a picture and had a little caption of what I’m doing down here on their Facebook page.  I’ve attached that photo of me at Hole in the Wall in case you wanted to post it anywhere.

Hope all is well and I’m sure I’ll send you another update later in the week.

See you soon!

Are you also at SXSW? What else is going on? Are you there with IPR? Please email me pictures and updates: cgroves@ipr.edu .
