Engineering
The phrase “early adapter” gets thrown around a lot in the music industry, but it has never been truer then when describing Tom Garneau. A true audio aficionado, he received his first analog tape recorder at age seven and started his first studio in 1981. After years of working in the MPLS underground scene, Tom made the jump to the majors in ’89 by becoming a staff engineer at Prince’s Paisley Park studios, his seven year tenure resulting in astonishing number of gold and platinum records.
When asked why he wanted to teach, Tom told us, “I love teaching and sharing what others have shared with me. My Dad was a public high school teacher. His former students go out of their way to tell me the impact he had on their learning and life. My goal is to have that kind of impact on my students.”
