Jay Fuchs

Jay Fuchs “Dr. Jay” is a renowned music educator, entertainer, author, composer, and director. Jay was the Music Theory Department Head at McNally Smith College of Music from 1991 to 2017.  He is the Co-Creator of Corridor, a popular game-based music theory and ear training app. Jay is the Author of Doctor Jay’s Music Lessons, a three-volume music theory course, used by several music schools, including IPR. Jay earned a Ph.D. in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Minnesota, where he studied with Pulitzer Prize winning composer, Dominick Argento.

Currently, Jay is the Director of Cabaret Camp, which he founded in 2018. Jay is also a popular entertainer, as the musical partner (piano) of Erin Schwab, celebrated musical entertainer, actress, TV and radio personality, and musical director.

Jay has been the musical director for many events, including: the Basilica of St. Mary’s annual gala, the Charlie Awards, the Minnesota Children’s Hospital fund raiser, the Minnesota Governor’s Inauguration Ball – 2019, Wingspan annual fund raiser, the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus annual fundraiser, and many others.
