The Students of Global Citizenship will be holding a donation drive for the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, an organization that works to end child abuse and neglect. The drive, entitled Thingz Kidz Needz, is collecting holiday items, household items, or office supplies. This year, the Crisis Nursery is especially in need of bed sheets, children’s pants, and Similac. Please join us in our effort to serve our community.
In researching local charitable organizations, we decided to contribute to Crisis Nursery based on their moral and practical business operations, the number of years they have successfully operated, and the overall organizational ideology. Additionally, the prevalence of child abuse lead us to support this specific cause. In 2013 alone, 4,171 children were the victims of abuse and neglect. The Crisis Nursery is currently the only residential crisis nursery in Minnesota and it shelters over 2,200 children each year. Their mission is to “end child abuse and neglect and create strong, healthy families,” and we felt it a worthy beneficiary of our efforts.
For more information, see our flyer or visit our donation boxes located on the 3rd and 5th floors of IPR’s Downtown Campus. The donation boxes will be in place from November 18th through Friday, December 11th. We hope to gather as many items as possible for Crisis Nursery during this time, so please share this information with your friends and family.
Thanks and Happy Holidays. It’s for the Kidz!
