Dear students,The Institute of Production and Recording (IPR) is proud to announce that as a nationally accredited college, we have now received the final approval from the U.S. Department of Education to offer Title IV Federal Student Aid. Title VI consists of Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), to name a few. You may also qualify for other forms of funding including scholarships, private loans and student loan consolidation programs.
If you are interested in participating in Title IV programs, your first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2008-2009 School Year. This can be completed online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you require assistance, or have completed 2008-2009 FAFSA, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 612-375-1900, 866-477-4840 (toll-free), or by e-mail at jrhunte@ipr.edu.

You Can Help!
Derek Doyle (aka New York) is a second year EB student at IPR. For those of you who know Derek know that he is a fun loving, verbally gifted (New Yorker and Irish), and creative young man.
What you probably don’t know about Derek is that he has also survived 4 kidney transplants. Derek was born with cystic kidneys and has been under constant doctor’s care since he was 6 months old. At the ripe old age of 5 he received his very first kidney transplant (from his dad). When he was 6 years old he was forced to make the move from New York to Minnesota to better facilitate his care.
So why are we boring you with these details about Derek…..he needs your help! Once again he is in end stage renal disease (his kidneys are failing) and needs another LIVING kidney donor! Over the years they have been able to simplify the process for the donor to 4 steps: A reminder that ALL expenses are paid by Derek’s insurance:
a. blood work to see if you are a negative (which is good) crossmatch to Derek
b. if you pass the first blood test one more blood test to see if Derek is building antibodies against your blood (which we don’t want)
c. pass the second blood test then there is a physical at Mayo Clinic in Rochester
d. final step (and most important) - 3 day hospital for the surgery
Here are a couple websites that you can refer to that might start to answer some questions about kidney disease in general and the kidney organ donor process:
http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/chronic-kidney-disease-topic-overview
http://www.mayoclinic.org/transplant/organ-donation.html
http://www.organtransplants.org/faces/story.php?id=3
“IF” after digesting all this data you think you might be interested in taking the first step and/or have more questions you need answered please call one of us at the following numbers:
Kathi Doyle (mom): 612-636-8029
Donnie Doyle (dad): 612-226-7000 (Donnie was Derek’s first donor so a great person to call if you have questions about “what it’s like” being a donor)
THANK YOU for taking the time to read this and considering giving Derek the “gift of life”!
