Wrap-up: IPR Staff & Faculty Showcase

In an eventful night at the Fine Line Music Cafe, the folks who work at IPR put on a show to raise money for charity. The place was filled with students, staff and faculty in a memorable celebration for the IPR community. Here are some of the night’s highlights, captured by photographer Jessica Hegland.

Greenroom Café and Student Services Team Member Jessica Berg opened the show with a solo acoustic set.

Next was Dean of Students Rebecca Buller. With all she does for the students at IPR, who knew she could sing too? She put on a great performance, with a backing band featuring Admissions Representatives Eddie Sekula and Carolyn Gleason, Director of Financial Aid JR Hunte, and Financial Aid Administrator Maureen Koenig.

Entertaining the crowd between sets was DJ Morplay (Greenroom Café and Student Services Team Member Marquay Belcher) and DJ Smyrx (Lab Engineer Harrison Schmidt).

The next set was performed by IPR’s newest Admissions Team Member Ryan Kulka. He rocked original tunes on the keys and even managed to fit in a Beatles tease.

Everyone knows that IPR Front Desk Receptionist Erin Stubbs can sing. But she showed everyone that she has got skills on the acoustic guitar as well. We expect to hear more great things from this very talented performer!

Next were sisters Carolyn Gleason and Maureen Koenig performing with Eddie Sekula on bass and Admissions Representative Scott Novak on guitar. This group offered a great set of folk music with non-traditional instrumentation (see accordion and banjo). In addition, we saw some great soloing and vocal harmonies from these folks.

Next were some solo acoustic tunes from two IPR faculty members, Associate Program Chair Kevin Bowe and Student Success Coordinator Adam Levy. Both these guys showcased their songwriting talents and individual style while covering a spectrum of moods ranging from somber to uplifting. These two stayed on the stage as part of the house band.

The house band took the stage and brought the noise and the fury.

Faculty member Steve Price held it down on bass guitar.

Faculty members Steve Alm and Scott LeGere (also IPR’s Director of Research & Development) played it cool on the keys with the houseband.

Career Services Assistant Brianna Rhubee was the first featured vocalist. She catered to the country crowd with some familiar hits, and closed out with a fantastic performance of “You’re No Good”.

Faculty member Mary Jane Alm was a hit with renditions of "Love me Like a Man" and "Love Hurts". Student Services Coordinator Tom Hilde provided the blues shuffle on drums.

Faculty member Walther Chancellor sat in on sax for a couple tunes, and was a crowd favorite.

The house band finished with Director of Students Services Erica West singing some classic R&B tunes. Erin Stubbs helped with some background vocals.

The night closed with Lab Engineer Onyx Johnson a.k.a. King Sandman, serving up some hip-hop to the fans.

Thank you to everyone that came out to the show! We had a great time!
