
Facilities and Equipment @ IPR
Located in the heart of the revitalized warehouse district in downtown Minneapolis, The Institute of Production and Recording occupies 48,000 square feet, including classrooms, studios, labs, a library, the bookstore and a variety of student spaces. facilities, banks, department stores, restaurants, trains and buses – essentially the
swirling hub of commerce that is downtown Minneapolis. The campus is a converted warehouse with undeniable character, and our equipment and facilities offer some of the best gear the industry has to offer.
Studios
Studios at IPR are available to students 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Here, students take the helm outside of class, learning the latest in audio/video production, design and business technologies. IPR’s studios are a place for students to work in real time, with real clients—experience required of everyone who attends the school.
Labs
In addition to IPR's nine studio facilities, the campus includes eight lab environments. Each lab is equipped with a variety of workstations for students to explore music production and sequencing, audio editing and mixing, video, graphic design and web and multimedia production. Students can access more than 120 Mac- and PC-based workstations featuring Avid's Pro Tools, M-Powered, LE and HD systems, to Apple’s Logic Pro and Final Cut Studio and the entire range of Adobe Creative Suite software.
Library
As an extension of the IPR curriculum, the library provides traditional book resources as well as an extensive collection of music, video and film on CD and DVD, access to a wide variety of magazines, industry periodicals, online resource databases and inter-library loan programs. Students may also access the library as a general resource and study center, with a knowledgeable librarian available for assistance with research projects.
