1/28/11 – Current solo artist, Kieren Smith (formerly of Sing It Loud), joined DIY 360 on Friday for an exceptional hour of music and insights.

Starting with the violin, and eventually moving to guitar, Kieren grew up knowing he wanted to be a rock star.  With that determination, Smith started Sing It Loud, a successful pop punk band that shaped a big part of the current Twin Cities Music landscape.

His world experience and music business know-how lead you to believe him far wiser and older than his 23 years; Kieren touched on the struggles and triumphs of being a solo artist versus being in a band.

Smith’s hard work and determination also help in managing his own music and booking his own shows, encompassing the DIY model.

Starting in February, Kieren will be performing music from his solo project while on tour with Jamestown Story and Nate Flynn, also formerly of Sing It Loud.

Next week, DIY will be joined by Indie Rock duo, Bella Ruse.
