Saturday, May 21st, 2011 – Special thanks to IPR Admissions, Career Services, Student Services, Education, Lab Staff, students… everyone, for making the spring Applied Student Open House fun and informative.
The Applied Student Open House offers a valuable service to students preparing to start at IPR. Applied students are given the opportunity to finish any and all enrollment requirements at an open house specifically for them. This typically means shorter lines outside Financial Aid and other necessary open house stops.
Approximately 40 students plus friends and family attended.Director of Career Services, Norbert Kreuzer, offered students and families an educated look at the job market and what it takes to be ready for it. Norbert strongly sugggests students to stay on the ball with the job search, and to look at their time at IPR as very short lived. Students need to hit the ground running, never say no to a project, and constantly be on the lookout for new opportunities. Norbert emphasized the resources he has at his disposal and asked applied students to be in regular contact with the Career Services office to ensure a more successful entry into the job market post IPR.
Panelists Jay Fleming, Bob Jenkins, Eric Trelstad and Eric Olsen represented their respective programs, explained the specializations at IPR (Audio Production and Engineering, Music and Entertainment Business, Sound Design for Visual Media) , and fielded audience Questions. Both Eric and Eric offered brief seminars on the media business and/or audio production. One attendee offered, “ the workshops were very informative-thanks for the free lunch too”.
