IPR hosted executives of the Twin Cities’ largest production house Fisher Edit for a Panel Discussion in Robinson Hall last Monday. Moderated by IPR’s Scott Legere, students learned about the advertising industry and how to “get in” from advertising veterans Joanna Jahn, Daron Walker and Eric Fawcett. Fischer Edit’s client list includes Best Buy, Target, Budweiser, State Farm Insurance, Northwest Airlines.

Celemony, maker of Melodyne will be on campus presenting in Robinson Hall Monday, March 1, at 3:00pm. There will be food, drinks, and prizes. This event is open to all IPR students and Alumni and seating is on a first come – first serve basis.

Advertising is a huge industry and uses audio, video, and many other media forms. IPR is hosting the executives of the Twin Cities’ largest production house Fisher Edit for a Panel Discussion in Robinson Hall on Monday, February 22 at 3pm. Their client list includes Best Buy, Target, Budweiser, State Farm Insurance, Northwest Airlines and many others. Food and drinks will be provided and seating is on a first come – first serve basis. All students and alumni are invited to attend.

As part of our monthly IPR Alumni Event series, Entertainment Tax Professional Brad Heck www.bradheck.com presented to alumni last Tuesday. Accompanied with sandwiches and cookies alumni got vital tips and tricks about how to best start a business, conduct good accounting practices and approach upcoming tax day. Current students were also welcomed and joined the event. See everyone next month, Tuesday, March 9th at J.D. Hoyts for our Social Hour!

Songwriter Mark Mallman joined DIY 360 Friday 1/28. Mark talked about his numerous musical projects, the songwriting craft, played a few of his songs on piano, discussed his artistic and commercial evolution as an indie artist, and he showed us and discussed some Hollywood blockbuster trailers for which he provided music.

The goal is to introduce students to professionals in the field who have been successful, frequently by adapting to changes in the business where they make use of multiple skill sets. Guests share information about their careers, their philosophies about professionalism and their art. DIY 360 is an opportunity for students to network with those working in the field and with each other as they work toward career success.
